While traveling in Thailand by sea its recommended to choose Lompraya or Seatran Discovery ferry companies which are the largest and most reliable. They offer tours and activities for different attractions and fastest sea crossing with their high-speed ferries. The journey from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan takes approximately half an hour.

Lompraya departs from Maenan pier and Nathon pier, Seatran Discovery departs from Bangrak Pier. There are some other ferries that go from other piers (Lipa Noi, for instance) but they are older and not so fast. If you plan to cross the sea with a motorbike, you can go from the Lipa Noi pier with Raja Ferry Company. But the boat is not high-speed, the trip takes an hour and a half.

What is the price of the ferry ticket?

The price in the ticket office and on the official site of the ferry company starts from 200 Baht per person (one way). You can take a suitcase up to 20 kg. You can also buy a ticket with the hotel transfer included. It costs 350 Baht.

The company also offers various tours (for instance from Koh Samui you can also go to Ko Tao), activities and extra services, that you can book online. If you plan to cross the sea with a motorbike with Raja Ferry you’ll have to pay 200 Baht (a ticket for one person without bike costs 150 Baht).

Where to stay and things to do in Koh Samui

If you are planning to see both islands and take Koh Samui to Koh Phangan ferry its better to stay in one of the hotels near Maenan beach. Maenan is one of the best and popular beaches in Samui with fine sand, palms, naturally shaded areas, and well-developed infrastructure.

Another nice place to stay in Koh Samui is Silver beach, or Haad Thong Ta-Khian beach. This is a small beach only 250 meters long. Its located in the North near Lamai beach, right next to the rocks that divide it from Chaweng. This beach can be called one of the best. The sand here is very fine and white. There are picturesque boulders of different sizes. Ban Thai Beach is also located not far from Maenan pier and considered to be one of the best beaches in the island as well as Chaweng and Lamai.

Where to stay and things to do in Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan is not as large as Koh Samui, so you can get around the island in just one or two days. People come to Phangan for the famous Full Moon Party, private holidays on remote beaches, yoga practice, and natural beauty.

Its recommended visiting the top of Kao Ra, which offers a fascinating view of the mountain slopes and the turquoise water of the Bay, and the Paeng national Park. As a starting point for reaching these attractions, you can choose a hotel on Ban Tai beach with the most developed infrastructure. There are many nice cafes on the beach, but the sea is not the best for swimming.

The famous Full Moon beach parties are held at the southernmost point of the island, on Haad Rin. The beach is really nice: clear turquoise water, white sand, view of green mountains. Its located within walking distance of the viewport on the mountain. Its also worth to see Malibu, Srithanu and Zen beaches.

Ko Tao Tour

Ko Tao is considered to be one of the most beautiful Thailand islands. Some people compare it with the famous Phi Phi island. You can also get it with Lomprayah ferry from Koh Samui or Koh Phangan but it costs from 350 Bhat (one way) and the trip takes 1.15 hours.
