Nusa Dua Overview🌊

Nusa Dua Overview

I’ve recently had the chance to visit Nusa Dua, a picturesque region in Bali, Indonesia. Nusa Dua is highlighted by immaculate beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and luxurious resorts. With its perfect blend of natural beauty and upscale amenities, it’s no wonder this area is a premier tourist destination.

The first thing that caught my eye in Nusa Dua was the pristine white sandy beaches. I spent countless hours lounging by the shore, soaking up the warm sun, and listening to the gentle waves crash on the sand. The crystal-clear turquoise waters were incredibly inviting, and I couldn’t resist taking a dip.

While exploring the beaches, I discovered that Nusa Dua is an excellent destination for water-based activities. I tried my hand at snorkelling and diving among the colourful coral reefs teeming with a diverse array of marine life, such as exotic fish, sea turtles, and even the occasional reef shark.

For those less inclined towards underwater adventures, there are plenty of other engaging activities to choose from:

  • World-class golfing
  • Luxurious spas
  • Cultural performances

One of the things that delighted me about Nusa Dua was the opportunity to indulge in authentic Balinese cuisine. There’s a fantastic array of dining options, ranging from casual cafes to fine dining establishments, all offering mouthwatering dishes made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Getting to Nusa Dua is pretty straightforward, with the Ngurah Rai International Airport only a short drive away, which offers flights to many destinations, including Lombok. Additionally, there are numerous transport options within Nusa Dua, such as taxis, scooter rentals, or even a leisurely stroll to explore the area.

In summary, my time in Nusa Dua was an unforgettable experience, filled with scenic beauty, thrilling activities, and delectable dining experiences. If you ever find yourself planning a trip to Bali, I couldn’t recommend Nusa Dua enough as the perfect holiday destination.

Lombok at a Glance

Lombok at a Glance

When I first set foot on Lombok, I was immediately captivated by its natural beauty and pristine beaches. From its mountains to the vibrant marine life, this island offers a refreshing change of peace from the bustling Nusa Dua.

As I made my way around the island, I was struck by the rich cultural heritage of the native Sasak people. Their lively music and traditional dances showcased the unique blend of Islamic and Balinese influences that sets Lombok apart from nearby islands.

The island’s diverse landscape makes it an ideal destination for a wide range of activities. I tried my hand at surfing on the world-renowned waves of Kuta Beach, snorkelled among colourful coral reefs off the coast of the Gili Islands, and hiked to the summit of Mount Rinjani to catch a breathtaking sunrise.

Of course, I couldn’t miss the chance to sample some of Lombok’s mouthwatering cuisine. Ayam Taliwang, a spicy grilled chicken dish, quickly became my favourite, followed closely by Plecing Kangkung, a traditional vegetable salad with a distinctive chilli flavour.

Here are a few highlights of my Lombok adventure:

  • Beaches: From the golden sands of Senggigi to the secluded shores of Pink Beach, Lombok offers a beach paradise for every traveller.
  • Gili Islands: These three idyllic islands – Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan – boast crystal-clear waters, mesmerising sunsets, and a vibrant nightlife scene.
  • Mount Rinjani: Rising majestically above the island, this active volcano offers challenging treks and stunning panoramas from its peak.
  • Sasak culture: The island’s indigenous people have preserved their unique traditions and customs amid the influx of tourism, making Lombok a fascinating cultural destination.
  • Handicrafts: Lombok is known for its intricate handwoven textiles, pottery and baskets, which can be found in local markets and villages throughout the island.

Lombok’s charm truly lies in its diversity and authenticity. The warm and friendly locals made me feel right at home, and it’s an experience I’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Travelling by Ferry ⛴️

Travelling by Ferry to Lombok

I recently travelled from Nusa Dua to Lombok by ferry, and I must say it was quite a pleasant experience. The journey began at the Padang Bai Harbour in Bali, where I purchased a ticket for the public ferry. The cost of the ticket was quite affordable at around IDR 46,000 for a one-way trip.

Once on board the ferry, I found the facilities to be satisfactory. There were several seating options to choose from, and I opted for a spot on the open-air deck to enjoy the beautiful ocean views. The journey itself took about 4-5 hours, depending on the water currents and weather conditions for the day.

During the voyage, I could purchase snacks and beverages from the onboard canteen, which provided a decent selection of items at reasonable prices. While the ferry ride was not the fastest method of getting to Lombok, it was definitely a cost-effective and relaxing option.

An alternative to the public ferry is the fast boat service, which takes around 1.5-2 hours to reach Lombok. The ticket prices for these services are higher than those for the public ferry, but the shorter travel time can be worth the extra cost for some travellers.

I recommend reaching the harbour early to ensure a smooth boarding process, especially during peak travelling seasons. Overall, if you appreciate a leisurely journey while enjoying the scenic views of the ocean and surrounding islands, travelling by ferry from Nusa Dua to Lombok is an excellent option for you.
