How to get to Nusa Penida From Nusa LembOngan in 2024?

One of the most common questions I get is about visiting Nusa Penida from Nusa Lembongan, and how to get there from each island. The good news is that it is very easy to do and not at all expensive. First, you have to either take a boat or sea-plane from Sanur to Lembongan then ferry (check out Sanur to Nusa Penida) that same afternoon to Penida. Currently, there are 2 boat operators – Blue Lagoon Cruises and Raja Car & Ferry Service – who have ferry services between Cenggiling or Kelingking Beach and Sadengsari Harbour on Nusa Penida.

The first step is to ensure that you have a plan for the day so you are not rushing around trying to figure out what you want to do. There’s not a lot available in Nusa Penida (the “main” town on the island) so I would recommend making sure you have a boat tour lined up as well as some organised snorkelling. You can do both of those activities from Nusa Lembongan beach, which is only 5-10 minutes ride away by boat. The first thing you need to do is find out how much a boat costs.

How Much Does The Ferry Cost from Lembongan to Nusa Penida?

Getting to Nusa Penida from Nusa Lembongan (worth it for the diving) is very easy. Start with an early morning depart on the Blue Water Express Boat Transfer. This boat ride will take about an hour and will cost you IDR 120,000 ($8.21AUD) per person. The crew of the boat is lovely, they’ll serve you a nice lunch and drinks (and they keep topping you back up), so it’s good times. Once you arrive in Penida, the captain will drop you off at “Pasar Ikan” (The Fish Market),

Sanur Ferry to Nusa lembongan

From Nusa Penida to Nusa Lembongan. You will need a White Boat Ticket from Toya Pakeh Harbour on Nusa Penida, this ticket is purchased from the jetty office and costs 20,000IDR per person (we paid 30,000IDR). Boats depart at 4:30pm, 5pm and 7pm. If you miss the last boat back to Lembongan then its an 8km walk along the coast to where the next boat picks up again. When buying the Nusa Lembongan boat tickets remember you have to return at a certain time, as the tide changes and gets much too low to return.

When you buy your tickets make sure you get return tickets. This gives you the option to leave on your own after staying on Nusa Lembongan. It is a 2m boat trip with the ticket included, you should arrive on Nusa Lembongan around 20mins after departure. The staff will help you get off the boat, just make sure you know which jetty your hotel is at and head there. The beaches in between islands are not suitable for swimming so remember this as well.
