Expat. Roasters
Location: Petitenget St No.1a, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia
It was started by head barista Shae Macnamara, Expat. Roasters is more than just a coffee shop. It’s a specialty coffee producer and wholesale and training center. And it’s not just me saying it. They were the IRC Champion in 2019.
I loved that this spot works closely with local Indonesian producers and farmers to source the finest quality beans.
They even go as far as working directly with farmers within 40 kilometers of their roastery, allowing them to experiment with processing methods and farming techniques to produce the best coffee available ultimately.
The spot’s urban and fun atmosphere is taking Bali’s coffee-sipping scene to new heights. Trust me. You won’t want to miss a sip of their Expat blend.

Blacklist Coffee Roasters
Location: Jl. Tanah Barak No.6, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia
Founded in 2014, Blacklist Coffee Roasters is a multi-award-winning coffee roaster based in Perth, Western Australia, and is one of the leading names in Australian Specialty Coffee. They even won the Golden Bean 2020 Overall champion.
In 2020, they opened a roastery, cafe, restaurant, and bar in Canggu, and it was an exceptional experience. I had the chance to taste different coffee roasts from different origins, which was indeed an enlightening experience.
If you’re a coffee enthusiast, this is a must-try to learn fascinating facts about roasts and drinking etiquette.

Hungry Bird
Location: Jl. Raya Semat Jl. Segara Perancak No.86, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
If you’re a coffee lover visiting Bali, add Hungry Bird to your list of must-visit spots. The coffee here is top-notch, and the experience is truly one of a kind.
From the moment you step into the cafe, you can tell that the team at Hungry Bird takes their coffee seriously.
They’ve been supplying notable cafes in Bali and across Indonesia with quality coffee since 2013, and it’s clear that they have a passion for the craft.
The beans are sourced from local farms and are produced with the fair trade system in mind, which is a nice touch.
What sets this spot apart is the way they work with its clients. Instead of focusing solely on their brand, they help their clients push and shape their own.
They also provide high-level barista training to help guide their clients’ teams to create the ideal cup for their customers.
The owner, Edo, has an inspiring story. He used to roast beans in his bedroom after fixing a broken coffee machine he bought online. He then opened Hungry Bird as a small coffee shop, and it eventually became popular with local surfers.
Now, it’s one of the most popular spots in the area with its micro-roaster and cupping room.
The coffee is delicious, the latte art is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the prices are affordable. It’s also a great spot to grab a coffee and get some work done.

Revolver Espresso
Location: Jl. Kayu Aya No.Gang 51, Seminyak, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
The coffee here is outstanding, and their breakfast menu is even better. The staff is amicable, and the service is excellent. It’s a little off the main road, so it could be considered a hidden gem.
But trust me. It’s worth seeking out.
Revolver is one of the oldest specialty coffee shops in Seminyak, and they have been instrumental in starting Bali’s long-standing love affair with java.
The breakfast menu is classic western with a touch of Bali, and my favorite part is that they do a Long Mach topped up.
Revolver Espresso is the place to go if you’re looking for fantastic coffee with a great atmosphere.

Seniman Coffee Studio is a must-visit for any coffee lover.
As one of Indonesia’s leading specialty coffee brands, the shop and cafe offer a wide variety of world-class beans from all over the world, including Africa, South and Central America, and Indonesia.
The on-site micro-roastery, brew bar, and shop with every piece of coffee equipment you could wish for make it a one-stop shop for all things coffee. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff was great, and the coffee was one of the best I had tried in Ubud.
It can get busy, but enjoying the delicious coffee and relaxing rocking chairs is worth it. I highly recommend checking out the nitro options.
If you’re interested in learning more about coffee, they also offer tasting workshops on home-brew, roasting, making the perfect espresso, and even latte art.

Cafe Vida is an organic restaurant & boutique espresso coffee shop located in the heart of Canggu.
Not only is the food delicious, with standout dishes like the Shakshuka and Miso avocado toast, but they also prioritize using only the best local organic produce and are environmentally conscious with their composting system and use of recycled materials.
The coffee at Cafe Vida is a highlight of the menu. Made with only the best local organic produce, free from chemicals and fertilizers, sourced from permaculture farms on the volcanic soils of Bali.
They only use high-quality beans, roasted to perfection, to create a smooth and rich taste. The café also has a boutique espresso coffee shop, where you can enjoy a wide range of coffee drinks such as latte, cappuccino, Americano, or flat white.
The barista is knowledgeable and efficient, ensuring that every cup is brewed to perfection.
Not only that, but they also offer cold brew coffee, a low-acid, high-caffeine coffee that’s both smooth and refreshing. The cold brew is sugar-free, dairy-free, healthy, and organic.
It’s a perfect drink for Bali’s balmy climate.

BGS Bali
Location: Jl. Munduk Catu No.1, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
I highly recommend BGS Bali for coffee and surf enthusiasts.
The coffee shop serves delicious and smooth Mandheling coffee from Sumatra, and their Almond Milk Latte is truly the best I’ve had on the island. The atmosphere is amiable, with a community-driven vibe, and the staff is welcoming and happy.
The shop is also a surf shop, selling all surf essentials, making it a great spot to hang out and chat with locals and resident expats.
BGS Bali has a surf-and-turf vibe: the shop’s decor is beachy and quirky. Surfboards, tiki torches, and driftwood line its shelves while funky clothes hang on hangers throughout the store.
They also use biodegradable cups, which is better for the environment.
Check out their flagship store in Dreamland and Uluwatu for great coffee and surf gear.

Satu-Satu Coffee Company
Location: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.36, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
I highly recommend Satu-Satu Coffee Company for coffee lovers in Berawa.
The renowned Sudana family runs the coffee shop, producing some of the best coffee in Bali since 1985.
They use traditional Balinese methods to ensure the highest level of organic coffee, resulting in superior freshness and flavor.
Indonesia’s government provided Satu-Satu with the machinery and equipment needed to facilitate its growth, including providing a space for the cafe in Berawa.
The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with friendly staff and delicious food. The brunch menu is extensive and affordable, with a variety of options.
My favorites are the ruccola panini, veggie breakfast, lady gaga bowl, and omelet. The coffee is also excellent and served with an onsite roastery.

Bootstrap Cold Brew Coffee
Location: Tumbak Bayuh, Mengwi, Badung Regency, Bali 80351, Indonesia
Cold brew coffee is becoming increasingly popular, and Bootstrap Cold Brew Coffee is leading the way in Bali.
The cold brew is smooth, refreshing, and packed with caffeine, making it the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day. The fact that it’s made with Kintamani Single Origin Arabica beans, which are grown on family-run farms in Bali, adds an extra layer of authenticity and taste.
I appreciate that it’s sugar-free, dairy-free, healthy, and organic. The team at Bootstrap is dedicated to sustainable sourcing and production, which is evident in the quality of their product.
It’s not a surprise that their cold brew is so popular. It’s now bottled and sold to other top spots across the island and even Singapore.

Pison Coffee is a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts in Bali. Known for its specialty coffee and unique Asian-Western fusion menu that combines the best of Indonesia and Sydney, Pison serves house-roasted beans from Sumatra.
The menu includes creative and delicious drinks like the Espresso Avocado and classic Affogato.
Live music is played in the evenings, with an exposed brick wall that gives it a stylish atmosphere. The service is friendly, but the owner, Arlini Wibowo, can also share tips on how to brew your perfect cup at home.
However, the café can get very busy, and wait times can be extended. The coffee is authentic, affordable, and robust.
The chocolate chip cookie was nice but nothing extraordinary. The savory food looked delicious and well-presented. Although, if you are looking for something sweet, you might be disappointed.
