Bamboo island Phi Phi
Table of Contents
The awesome Bamboo island Phi Phi (also known as Ko Mai Phai) should be high up there on your bucket list of things to do in Phi Phi. This is a lush island that is located in the most northern position of the Phi Phi islands. There is a popular tour from Phuket to Monkey Island and Bamboo island, however, you will usually find this beach is fairly quiet. I enjoyed getting away from the crowds and you will too. It’s an awesome island that is fringed by gorgeous palm trees, tropical water and pearl white sand. Also, the Bamboo island snorkelling opportunity is amazing, which you will experience if you visit the Hin Klang reef near the island. But I will share with you how to rent a long-tail boat from Sea Gypsies village or Tonsai village.
You have heard of the Bamboo island tsunami, but there isn’t really any trace of that affects left anymore. To visit this amazing island you can do a boat tour from Phuket or Krabi (check out the best areas to stay in Krabi) to Bamboo island, but we will cover everything you need to know to visit this top Thai island.
Is Bamboo island worth a visit? Yes, yes, yes. You need to take the boat tour and visit this top, scenic Thai island.

Snorkelling on Bamboo island
I know you will enjoy the Hin Klang snorkelling tour in Phi Phi if you’re into snorkelling. This is one of my favourite activities and the Bamboo island snorkelling tour did not disappoint.
You can explore the reef near the Bamboo island beach and the marine life that surrounds it. Don’t worry about not having any snorkelling gear with you. Your Hin Klang tour operators will provide all the equipment you need.
You even get to see a Nemo (clownfish) and a wandering turtle. Remember to be respectful of the marine life and try not to damage any of the coral. Also, don’t forget your underwater camera.
Phi Phi Leh to Bamboo island tour
This is probably the most popular option to visit this top island in the Phi Phi region.
You can book a boat tour from Phi Phi Ley that will take you to see the amazing island. Don’t worry you won’t travel just then and back. You will still get a chance to see other popular islands that are nearby.
How to book the Phi Phi Ley to Bamboo island speedboat tour?
There is plenty of tour operators hanging around the Phi Phi island and don’t worry they will ask you before you ask them. If it’s your first time in Thailand, expect to be slightly hassled. It’s all fair though 🙂
Your tour will last at least 8 hours and you will get to see some amazing islands, as well as Maya Bay beach. But Maya Bay is closed indefinitely so you will have to stay on the boat.
