Must See Monkey Beach Phi Phi – Thailand

How To See Monkey Beach from Phuket and Phi Phi

The awesome Monkey beach Phi Phi is one of the best tours to do from Phi Phi and Phuket, Thailand. Not too far from Tonsai Bay, this amazing beach is easily accessible from Phi Phi Don and may tourists actually kayak there own way to the beach to see the monkeys. There are actually two locations with a similar name, Monkey beach and Monkey bay (which is around the corner of the limestone cliffs). We visited the awesome beach whilst doing a long-tail boat tour from Tonsai jetty, which we visited other amazing places like Maya Bay and did the Pileh Lagoon snorkelling.

The Phi Phi islands in Thailand are one of the best exotic destinations in the world. It’s no wonder people travel from all over the world to experience the beauty of this place and check out the lush hotels on Phi Phi. You will understand when you visit Monkey beach island from Phuket, Phi Phi Don or even Krabi. A common question is where are there monkeys in Thailand? This is one of the best places to see them.

If you’re worried about random monkey beach attacks or getting a bite off the monkeys, I can assure you it’s pretty safe. You’ve just got to remember that the monkeys are wild. So you can never be 100% sure it’s safe. Just like a small bird may swoop at you if you go near its new-born, the monkeys may do the same!

How to get to monkey beach Phi Phi?

Monkey beach is easy to get to and you can get there in a 10-minute long-tail boat ride from Phi Phi Don. We visited this while doing a tour around Maya Bay and also visited Bamboo island. You can kayak your way across Monkey beach Phi Phi, but this would be tricky if the water is choppy. Also, peak-time in Phi Phi means there will be lots of boat tours circling the islands, so you want to avoid these water taxis.

I would 100% do the boat Phi Phi boat tour, you will absolutely the breathtaking views of Maya Bay!

If you do choose to do the boat tour to Monkey Island, then you will get around 20-minutes on the beach to feed the monkeys. Your caption will wait on the boat whilst you hop off.

Check out the Monkey beach Phi Phi map below for the exact location:

The bay is only small, this is why it does sometimes it seems crowded from the tourists rushing on to see the monkeys.

When we visited the beach, it was really quite so it was awesome. This is why you should visit in the morning really if you can. This way the tour will be more enjoyable and memorable.

I have read online on other blogs that you can’t feed the monkeys, and to be fair they are wild monkeys so you shouldn’t really feed them.

I know people do feed them and take a quick photo whilst handing a monkey a banana. You may do this too. So, if this is the case, just please be careful. The last thing you want is a monkey biting you. Like I said the monkeys are wild, so just know your limits.

They’re really cool though and generally friendly. The reason they come down to Monkey beach to meet the tourists is obviously for the food that’s being offered.
