Complete Guide: Ban Phe Pier to Pattaya

Getting to Ban Phe and Getting to Koh Samet easy guide.

The only simplest way to go from Bangkok to Ban Phe, the port for boats to Koh Samet (check out the top hotels on Koh Samet), is via car. From Bangkok, there are no direct boats, planes, or trains to Ban Phe, and the island lacks its own airport.

Here are 2 handing guides;

From Bangkok, by taxi

You can arrange transportation via a taxi service from outside Suvarnabhumi airport or your hotel in Bangkok, which may be able to provide this service. Depending on your negotiating abilities, the price might range from 1100 baht to several thousand baht. Some taxi drivers will carry a rate card in their vehicle, so keep an eye out for one to prevent overpaying. It takes around 2.5 hours to get there. A taxi service is available to book on the dock while returning from Samet. The cost of returning to Bangkok is 1,576 baht.

Taking the bus from Pattaya

One of Pattaya’s many travel agencies may arrange for a minivan to transport you to Rayong or Bang Phe. The trip will last around an hour and cost roughly 100 baht each person. You may also hail a passing air conditioner or public bus. Every half-hour, services depart from the intersection of Sukhumvit and Pattaya Neua roads. This service will only take you to Rayong bus station; to get to Bang Phe, you must take a connecting bus or Songtaew.

Taking the bus from Bangkok

Outside the arrivals and departure areas of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, there is an airport express Bus AE3 that will take you to Ekkamai Bus station on Sukhumvit Road. The fee is around 150 baht, and it runs from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

For those not flying, the Ekkamai bus stop is immediately across the street from the Ekkamai BTS station. From there, take one of the half-hourly air-conditioned public buses that run between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily from Ekkamai station to Ban Phe station. The travel will take around 3 and a half hours and will cost 195 baht one way. The Ferry Harbour is a short walk from the bus terminal.

There are private minivan services offered by tour companies that pick up from hotels along Khao San Road if you prefer to travel in comfort. The price is little more, about 500 Baht, but you will be taken directly to Ban Phe Pier.
