Top 4 things to do in Thailand

Thailand Koh Samui

The amazing island of Koh Samui…

A little island with BIG personality!

My adventure in Koh Samui was greeted with some wild excursions, I love a good excursion. Where ever you go in the world your adventurous side has always got to have try out the adventures on offer. It’s always a fun game of Russian roulette whether or not your going to get ripped off for your money by the locals (all part of the journey).

If you go anywhere like Thailand you will be flooded with offers for excursions by locals, bars, people on the street and probably staff at your hotel.

For the little island I am going to tell personally my favourite activities to do.

4. Jet Ski in The Sea

This was sweet, reminded my of my James Bond Days (joking).

The jet skis are super cool and they do pick up some serious speeds.

The jet ski’s can be hired all up and down the beaches, there’s usually cool indie guys there waiting to take you money, throw a life jacket on you and set you off. They do give you a quick demo of how to rev and rip.

They are so much fun for just hammering it up and down the sea.

The cost of hire for the jet ski’s is roughly 2000 Baht for 30 mins. A top tip though if you go towards the end of the day you will get some money knocked off. They are also quite good for bartering for extra time on the jet ski if you offer them some extra money.

3. Elephant Riding

Don’t really know many people that would turn down a ride on these precious animals.

The elephant riding was a crazy experience. A guide sits at the front of the elephant that provides for up to two extra people on the mini jungle trek. The overall elephant ride lasts for about 20 minutes. They usually provide a show and throw in dinner and a drink for your day there.

The elephants are so laid back and it is a surreal feeling to sit on one of these. Take a biscuit with you, the guide will try and sell you one to give to the elephant but be ahead of the game and take your own.

The excursion charges for pictures with the elephants but the guides once out trekking will take a picture of you for a cut price.

The cost for the day ranges from 1750 to 2500 baht. They do stretch the hours and make it a full day which is good. Dinner and drinks included which is always a plus.

2. Jungle Trek

This is a truly amazing day.

With most exclusions you do get picked up from your hostel/hotel which saves you some money on travel.

So there say begins by getting picked up by a mega jeep, like the ones of Jurassic park. There is about 10 of you in this jeep for the adventure.

After all passengers are picked up you will make your way to the jungle to let the fun commence.

You spend the morning on a brilliant jungle rally hammering up and down the mountains. The jeep has seats on top of the roof which is brilliant when your driving up to 80mph through the forest.

After the morning they take you to the top of a mountain overlooking Koh Samui for some dinner, mesmerising views!

The rest of the day is spent visiting waterfalls, temples and a coconut farm.

epic day!!

This day cost around 2000 Baht.

I couldn’t recommend any higher and it is value for money!

The fun you have makes it worth every penny and it also includes good buffet breakfast. I will definitely be doing this excursion again.

1. Snorkelling and Monkey Island Visit

Like something off a film.

I can’t recommend this day any higher.

Being picked up and took to the beach to meet around a 100+ other tourists, you are then split into groups to fit on the medium sized boats.

If your lucky you can get a spot at the front of the boat in the sun, I’d push through the people for that because the views are worth it!

They drive for roughly 1 hour to take you to a spot for snorkelling whys an array of fish and sea urchins, yeah the ones that sting you just got to avoid these haha.

After spending the morning sunbathing and getting in and out of the water you are then drive to a place called monkey island. On the way you drive pass a large rock that is in the shape of a monkeys head, it’s brilliant.

You reach an island filled after roaming monkeys for dinner, it does bring paradise to life. Just before dinner they take you out for some sweet kayaking in the sea.

After the afternoon in this scenic island you then make your back to where you started on this amazing adventure.

Honestly it is a truly memorable day and you cannot miss this if you visit Koh Samui.

Don’t forget to take a camera!

This adventure costs between 2000 – 2500 Baht, worth every penny in my eyes. You will not experience many days like this in your life!

There are lots of things to do in Koh Samui but I highly recommend these 4 truly sweet days out.

I would probably do one every 3 days or so to keep costs down and save the fun right?!

Good luck with your adventure!
